Meaning
Yo, Bharata, everyone's born sus, totally brainwashed by this whole good-vs-bad, want-vs-hate thing, Parantapa.
Commentary
Okay, so like, pleasure is where it's at, right? That's *major* Raga, total attachment. But pain? Total Dvesha, straight-up aversion. Humans are all about self-preservation, tryna keep their bodies alive. We chase after things that help us survive, and ditch anything that causes pain, physically or mentally. This whole desire/aversion thing? It's a total mindf***. It's like, this delusion caused by these pairs of opposites keeps us from seeing reality, even the basic stuff we experience with our senses. And forget about enlightenment – if your mind is all caught up in wanting and hating, you ain't gonna find your inner self. Raga and Dvesha are everywhere: pleasure and pain, hot and cold, happy and sad, winning and losing, praise and hate, clout and no clout – it's all pairs of opposites. Desire and aversion mess with everyone's heads, blocking them from knowing their true selves. If your mind is clouded by these opposites, you can't realize you *are* the Self, and you won't worship me as the Self. People who are all caught up in Raga and Dvesha lose their ability to think clearly. They want good stuff to last forever and bad stuff to disappear instantly. But that's not how it works! Things change, time passes, and what's good now might suck later. Our minds are always changing, wanting something new, getting bored with the same old thing.
