Verse 5.3

Meaning

Yo, a true Sannyasi is someone who doesn't hate or desire anything. Arjuna, my dude, they're totally free of opposites, so escaping the drama is, like, super easy for them.

Commentary

Okay, so like, a real Sannyasi isn't just some lazy bum who ditches everything because of a bad breakup or job loss, or whatever. A true Sannyasi isn't a total coward, you know? It's about the Karma Yogi who's totally chill with pain and stuff that causes pain, and doesn't even crave pleasure or things that give them pleasure. They're not attached to anything, not even hot or cold, happy or sad, win or lose, rich or broke, clout or no clout, etc. They're a perpetual Sannyasi, even if they're still doing stuff. You don't need to wear an orange robe to be one; it's all about having a pure heart and letting go of your ego and desires. Just ditching your stuff isn't enough, fam. (See VI.1)
